navigates between two worldsthe one being spoken about and the other being

a sum of parts without hierarchy
“Off-topic or the here and now” grew out of my need to break away from the formal and thematic structures that came up in our
previous shows.
I wished to re-explore certain motifs: things we thought about but didn’t do, things we did and then discarded, off-topic highlights,
things we saved for later…
The “off-topic” situations are deliberately diverse and entail working on both gestures and words. We made use of the means at
our disposal, giving them shape by exploring the various levels of language that seem to distinguish them.
The common thread is the stage on which they unfold, in other words “the here and now”.
In addition, the three protagonists do all they can to navigate between motifs, drawing on different means of communication.
The show happens while it says it’s happening right where it’s happening.
While the work was in progress, I realized that the elements were being interwoven according to a principle of echoing, mise en
abyme, or drifting.
We had to accept and emphasize the autonomy of these separate elements to make sure they didn’t fall by the wayside, but
rather blend into the whole.
To let their initial disparity reveal unexpected meanings now and again.
So that by assembling them we could even create an impression of continuity…
