(...) Martine Pisani’s dances question the freeedom and relevance of movements in a lively poetical way. They reveal stereotypes related to the concept of "representation". She enjoys outwitting the notion of spectacle, ironically alluding to or pointing at the vanity and artifice of virtuosic approaches. Alone on stage, the dancer reveals himself through short disconnected phrases instead of relying on the safety and comfort provided by imitating. He exposes himself boldly to view, radically unveiling a true being. As a gift, the dance emerges from a fragile territory, that of unspoken words and stillness. (...)
